Kastelaz Hiking Trail

From the Rathausplatz (town hall square) ascend the Schneckenthalerstraße street up to S. Giacomo/St. Jakob. A quick detour to the beautiful Romanesque church of S. Giacomo is worthwhile. After viewing the centaurs, sciapods and other frescos, continue in a northerly direction. After a few meters the first signpost directs hikers to the Kastelazweg trail. The frist few meters of the trail are steep, but soon the trail continues on a lovely, relatively flat forest road through pine and deciduous forest to Cortaccia – Kurtatsch. There are plenty of benches en route offering beautiful views of Termeno – Tramin.

It is recommended that you return on a paved panoramic road (hardly used by cars) via Ronchi – Rungg, the southernmost district of Termeno. There are a few refreshment stops along the way for thirsty hikers.

Those who are already familiar with the church of S. Giacomo may wish to follow the Kastelazweg trail earlier by turning left off Schneckenthalerstraße street after the St. Anna retirement home towards the forest.
