How to reach Tramin

South of Lake Kaltern and at the foot of the Mendel mountain massif which separates the watery Val di Non valley from Etschtal Valley, the Bikregion Tramin – Kalterer See enjoys an advantageous location between the north and south and as a result, a very important function: It invites hikers, mountainbikers, pleasure cyclists and culture enthusiasts to a once in a lifetime tour of discovery through Bozen & environs.

Arrival by car

On your own four wheels to Tramin

  • From Munich in about 3.5 hours on the Rosenheim – Kufstein – Brenner motorway to the Auer – Neumarkt – Tramin motorway exit. From there, follow the signs, just under 5 km, to Tramin.
  • Over the Reschenpass, towards Merano, from there on the MeBo expressway to the Eppan exit and further on the South Tyrolean Wine Route to Tramin to your accommodation.

There have been two charging stations for electric cars (from Alperia) in the car park next to the tourist office since 2017. Some of our accommodation providers also have electric charging stations.

To ensure good and safe travel planning, you can find out in advance about the current traffic situation in South Tyrol and follow all traffic information for the Brenner motorway .

In Italy, lights are compulsory all year round, even during the day and on all roads.

Arrival by train

Relaxed train journey to South Tyrol

Located in the middle of Europe, South Tyrol is easy to reach by train from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Those arriving in South Tyrol on DB / ÖBB Eurocity trains can even purchase the so-called “Connect your DB or ÖBB Eurocity ticket” at a special price. The ticket is valid on the day of arrival or the day of return for all public transport in South Tyrol. All IC and EC trains stop in Bolzano, express trains also stop in Auer. From the train station, shuttle services take you to Tramin. From the bus station in Bolzano, regular buses take you to your destination. From Germany

  • with the Deutsche Bahn: daily direct connections from Munich to Bolzano, from just 18.90 euros & long-distance journeys from 46.90 euros, e.g. B. from Frankfurt to Brixen
  • Family tip: Children or grandchildren under 15 years of age even travel free of charge

From Austria

  • with the ÖBB via Innsbruck and the Brenner: from Kufstein directly to Bozen
  • Savings tip: get cheap bargains with the Sparschiene tickets

From Switzerland

  • with SBB via Innsbruck and the Brenner: trains run several times a day from Zurich, Basel or Geneva
  • or through the Swiss National Park with the Rhaetian Railway

Arrival by public transport

Comfortably by bus to Tramin

Want to experience South Tyrol without a car? No problem, you can get (almost) anywhere in South Tyrol by bus and train. A densely networked public transport network and precisely coordinated timetables ensure hourly or half-hourly connections between the towns and to popular excursion destinations. In the Südtirolmobil network, South Tyrol can be discovered by bus, train, cable car, funicular or tram.

Flixbus – daily to South Tyrol

With the Flixbus you can reach South Tyrol all year round and several times a day. You can easily reach your Tramin holiday via the Munich and Innsbruck transport hubs.

South Tyrol Express – from Switzerland to South Tyrol

 

Every Saturday from April to the end of October you can start your holiday from St. Gallen, Wängi, Winterthur, Zurich and Landquart with the South Tyrol Express. The shuttle service directly to your accommodation in Tramin and back is included in the offer. Travel in a modern, comfortable coach and without lugging your luggage. Children under 6 years of age travel free of charge and young people up to 14 years of age travel for half price. You can take your bike with you.

South Tyrol Transfer – direct to your accommodation

If you arrive in South Tyrol by train or bus, there is a “South Tyrol Transfer” shuttle service for the last few kilometers to your accommodation: From the train stations in Bolzano, Merano, Mals, Brixen, Bruneck and Innichen as well as the long-distance bus stops in Bolzano, Klausen, Vahrn, Sterzing and Merano, you can get to your holiday accommodation – and back to the stop after your vacation.

The shared transfer and long-distance bus stops to the South Tyrolean accommodation providers as well as the individual transfer from all mobility hubs can be booked online.

Arrival by plane

In South Tyrol’s capital, Bolzano, there is South Tyrol’s Bolzano Dolomites regional airport, which flies to 6 destinations. There are connections several times a week between Bolzano and Brussels, Copenhagen, Rotterdam, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Berlin and London. The nearest airports are in Innsbruck and Verona. Other airports nearby are: Bergamo, Venice, Bologna, Milan, Treviso, Munich and Salzburg.

The airports are connected to South Tyrol by shuttle services to the respective train stations and by trains operated by the Italian state railways, DB and ÖBB.
